Stamped Concrete Installation Process
EASTROCK LANDSCAPE
This stage transforms the project from an empty gravel bed, wood frames and maze of steel into a solid hard surface.

We order our concrete from a reliable concrete company with a mix designed specifically for our project.  Concrete is a combination of cement, course and fine aggregates and water.  The proper ratio and size of these ingredients various from project to project.  Weather, concrete finish and usages will dictate our mixture.

In many cases the concrete must be pumped from the concrete truck to the placement location.  A large diesel concrete pump is used to transport the concrete thru a hose to the patio, pool deck, footing, walkway or driveway.  Now its time to level and finish the concrete.

CONCRETE FINISHING ................................................................................
A good concrete finish doesn't happen by chance.  It is a blend of skills including both "Art" and "Science".

After the concrete is screeded to the level of the forms it is then bullfloated and allowed to dry to the desired consistency.  While the concrete is drying the score lines or grooves are marked out and usually installed.  Score lines are very important to the structure and appearance of the concrete.

Once the bleed water has disappeared and the concrete can support the weight of a person the troweling, edging and groove cleaning takes place.

CONCRETE STAMPING / TEXTURING .....................................................
During this stage the texturing and additional coloring of the concrete take place.

An accent color (called the release), is evenly distributed through-out the concrete surface.  This helps to provide a contrasting accent to the concrete making the concrete look more like natural stone and prevents the rubber texture mats from sticking to the concrete.

Seamless texture mats are overlapped about 6 inches and repeatedly struck with a tamper at a desired pressure.  The mat is forced into the surface leaving an impression and imbedding the release color into the concrete.

Concrete Sealing is the last phase of the process.

After several days the concrete is broomed and then pressured washed to remove the excess release (powder).  Approx. 30 days later the concrete is sealed to protect and enhance the colors. The sealer must dry for 24 hours before foot traffic is and 72 hours for vehicle traffic.
